Some days we like to just sit and watch the birds have their breakfast.

A female hummingbird floats like magic while she drinks a little sugar water.  The males have bright red throats.

Not a bad shot on a second’s notice and with no tripod!  She’s an amazing little bird, so graceful and acrobatic.

We have a new toad friend who lives on our porch, swims in our dogs’ water bowl, and sits in front of the patio door all night long eating bugs dancing in the light.  He has such an easy life that he has grown quite fat, which is why we call him “Jabba the Toad.”

During the day, Jabba likes to sit in the crack between the porch and house.

On our porch we have a frog water bowl that the dogs use as a drinking bowl.  But this frog decided to move in and make it his temporary home.

Peanut is not much in the mood to share her bone with Theresa.

Peanut demonstrates one of her favorite tricks.  All she has to do is sit still for a few seconds, and then the treat is hers!

Peanut loved to play in the snow, but after a while in the white stuff, her legs would bog down with mini-snowballs.  Eventually she would gather so many snowballs that she could no longer walk, and we had to pick them off one-by-one.

This crafty ground squirrel figured out how to help himself to a daily meal in our bird feeder.  He would climb the nearby tree, run along a branch, then hurl himself through the air onto the feeder for a feast.

Imagine there’s no cats
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or chase for
And no pit bulls too
Imagine all the doggies
Living life in peace…

Give a dog an open bucket of food, and guess what happens?
